Sharing & Caring for Kitties: Aurora's La Petite Ecole Gives 'Beaucoup' to Cat Care Society

By Mary Blake, Cat Care Society Volunteer

Seven students from a home-based French/English kindergarten pre-school, La Petite Ecole, in Aurora are learning about fundraising for needy animals by donating to Lakewood-based Cat Care Society (CCS). This dedicated pre-school class raised $25 in change and gave 40 lbs. of litter, a new rubber backed rug, two large boxes of trash bags, two bags of kitten chow, one large bottle of bleach, eight rolls of paper towels, 24 cans of Friskies cat food, and a package of small paper plates, all items used on a daily basis by the shelter. "I think the children learned a lot about giving to needy animals, and the Cat Care Society does a great job,” said Patricia Ayité, Teacher/Provider at La Petit Ecole. "I was impressed!" CCS Director of Development Suellen Scott showed the class around the shelter. View the slide show of all the photos at:

Symone, Sawyer, Sophie, Quincey, Evelyn, Chloe, and Iyanla visited the cats Friday, Nov. 16, 2012, and got to name the next two cats that come into the shelter. The group, which chose Minou (min-oo) and Cha Cha (sha sha), were rewarded with many purrs and meows for their affection, and many thanks for their donation. The school is located at 16271 E. Flora Pl., Aurora, http://www.lapetiteecoledenver.com
